GarageBand

GarageBand is a cool app available on the iPad to make audio (mp3) files, and we used it to create our radio show about Homo Sapiens Sapiens.

Garageband is simple to use. To begin, you open the app by tapping the icon on your homescreen. Once it opens you will be able to create a new "song," which is what the projects are called on GarageBand. Press the instrument that you want to play and then it will go to that instrument. Pretend you choose the guitar, you can press the notes or swipe on them, you can also in the top write hand corner you can press "chords" or "notes". In the top left hand corner you will see "acoustic" and a picture of a guitar. After you do that you can choose your guitar. After you do that you can record, but before that you can, if you want, change the settings. In the top right there is a button which kind of looks like this: ➕. Press it and you can change the length of the song. You can also do automatic, which means that you can do it for as long as your recording of the guitar is. If you press the tool bar (it looks like a wrench) at the top right you can do other settings. If you want to try even more settings you can press that thing right next to the the tool bar. It's 1 spot to the left of the wrench. After you're done with that you can press the red circle in the middle of the screen. In the middle, between the left side and the middle, there is a picture of this guitar with a gear and also these lines. Press the lines and then you will get the recordation. In the middle of the screen at the end of the black thing there are 3 little lines. Drag them toward the other side of the iPad, then there is this sound button. You can mute it and then you can record another slide. After that towards the top left of your screen there is this loop. You can then choose anything you want from there. If you hold the end of one of the recordations you can make it shorter or longer. After your finnished you can press to "My Songs" oh and don't worry because it will save it automatically. Then at the top of that page there is the button "Select" you can press it and then the songs you made will dance or wiggle, whatever you call it. When they move press on the song that you made and then in the far top left corner there is this sheet of paper with an arrow going up out of it. Then press anyone you want, Gmail, YouTube, Facebook and the rest. Fill out the 3 questions they ask you and then press Email. After you do that it asks you 3 more questions and then press send.

I hope you now know how to use GarageBand.

Early Humans

Out of all of our early human ancestors, during this unit we learned about Australopithecus Afarensis, Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis, and Homo Sapiens Sapiens. Each hominid was more advanced than the ones which came before it. To begin with, Australopithecus Afarensis was the first hominid to be able to walk on 2 feet, which allowed them to move and not have to stay in the same place. They lived 3 to 4 million years ago.

After that, Homo Habilis came along. Homo Habilis was more advanced than Australopithecus Afarensis, and was able to make weopons, which allowed them to make things or fix thing.

Next came Homo Erectus. In addition to what Homo Habilis could do, Homo Erectus was able to they were the first one to migrate out of Africa, which allowed them to be ablw to survive in other places.

After Homo Erectus came Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis. They were able to have large brains , which allowed them to make tools and hunting wapons.

Finally, along came Homo Sapiens Sapiens, or "Early Modern Man." These advanced hominids were able to make paintings and also had advanced weopons like the bow and arow, which allowed them to hunt, they had more food and also make paints.
